New Forest Camping Trip

New Forest Camping Trip
8th August 2005

This weekend a group of us (myself, Suzi, Scott, Joe, Craig and Andrew) headed to the New Forest for a weekend of getting back to nature and camping. We packed up the car with all the essentials - food, plenty of drink, music, oh and of course tents and made the long (due to our superb map reading skills) journey to the New Forest.

Once we got there things weren't as easy as we assumed it would be after we were informed we couldn't set up camp wherever we wanted due to most of the New Forest actually being a nature reserve area. Duh. After scouring every inch of the land we eventually, and luckily, stumbled upon Tom's field which would be our home for the weekend - even though he was fully booked. We quickly set about constructing our tents as the night drew close and the rain had decided to pour. Luckily the rain stopped once our tents were up (typical!) and we started our BBQ and drinking session. We of course had the standard ghost stories, scaring poor Suzi to tears and a good old sing-song (provided by Craig, Suzi and Andrew) as we wandered around the New Forest in the pitch black dodging the wild horses and the smelly HUGE mess they produce.

All in all it was a good laugh - even if it did take us a life time to find somewhere to camp and drive home. Definitely needs more planning the next time we attempt anything like that! Ha ha.
